Overview

The University of Auckland is one of New Zealand's two current medical schools and a globally ranked research university. Its Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a six-year programme that combines early clinical exposure with strong science foundations, training doctors for practice across Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

Entry pathway

Most students enter the MBChB after completing a competitive first year — typically the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) — before applying for selection into Year 2 of medicine. A limited number of places are also available to graduate applicants. Selection considers academic performance, the UCAT, and other criteria set by the university each year.

Because entry is highly competitive, strong UCAT preparation and a solid first-year academic record are essential. MedView's tutoring and coaching are built to support students at exactly these stages.
